Bungoma man killed in a duel to win a woman's heart
A man in Bumula, Bungoma county, was stabbed to death by his opponent in a duel to win a woman's affection.
The man identified as Titus Wamalwa was stabbed in the chest using a kitchen knife following a night-long battle.
According to a statement issued by the DCI, the protracted fight took place at Njoki's house,who had stole their hearts away.
The suspect, identified as Oliver Wafula, suffered heavy blows from the deceased, who was rumored to be the local bouncer.
On the verge of surrendering to defeat, Oliver reached for the knife and drove it into Wafula's chest, instantly killing him.
"In the encounter staged at Njoki's house, the suspect behind the killing suffered powerful punches from the deceased, who is rumored to have been an amateur pugilist," the statement read. "On the verge of sensing defeat, the suspect suddenly reached for a kitchen knife in the house and drove it deep into the opponent's chest, killing him on the spot."
His attempts to flee were cut short by the detectives moved swiftly to capture him as he tried to flee the city.
"Detectives incident and immediately cordoned off Kimwanga market, in search of the suspect who was finally cornered as he tried to sneak out of town," the report added.
The blood-stained knife has subsequently been found and will be used as a pivotal exhibit in court against the suspect.
