Laikipia University student stabbed to death by an angry 'boyfriend'
Gertrude Kipkoech, a first-year student at Laikipia University, was stabbed to death on Wednesday night by her roommate's boyfriend.
Kipkoech, who had just recently begun her university life, was brutally killed in the ladies' hostels by a stranger identified as Ezra.
Before embarking on his nefarious quest, the suspect is said to have traveled from Nakuru.
The stranger who was forbidden from entering the hotels managed to get past the university's security guards and inside the hostel.
According to the deceased's roommate, the man had made several advances towards Gertrude, but they had all been rebuffed.
Witnesses who overheard a heated altercation in the room were told not to be concerned since the dispute would be resolved.
On Wednesday, neighbours alerted by a scream broke into the house only to discover Gertrude dangling in a pool of blood in a critical condition with many stab wounds on her body.
Ezra, who feared the fury of the enraged mobs, attempted to take his life by stabbing himself in the neck and stomach.
Officers from a nearby station rushed to the murder site and rescued the suspect from the claws of enraged comrades determined to eliminate him.
He was later rushed to Nyahururu Referral Hospital, where he is reported to be stable.
Unfortunately, Gertrude lost her life on their way to the hospital and was taken to Nyahururu County Referral morgue.
The police have since launched investigations into the heinous act.
So unfortunate!
