Former Attorney General Charles Njonjo is not dead, says Family
The family of Sir Charles Njonjo has come out to deny fake reports about his death.
Lately, there have been speculations circulating on social media sites claiming Charles Njonjo died at the age of 101.
In an official statement issued to newsrooms, the family termed the reports untrue and exaggerated, adding that he was in good health and enjoying his weekend with his family.
"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I am well and enjoying my weekend at home as we celebrate Utamaduni Day." the statement read in part.
Njonjo was the first to serve in the Office of the Attorney General in the Republic of Kenya from 1963 to 1979.
In his heyday, Njonjo, famously referred to as Sir Charles, was a powerful man whose word was law and definitive.
He also served as a member of parliament for the Kikuyu constituency and later became the Chairman of the Kenya Wildlife Service.
The former government officer hailed as a diet guru startled many when he revealed that eating a lot of vegetables is the key to living a long life.
Sir Charles, commonly known as "The Duke of Kabeteshire," is the only surviving member of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's Cabinet.
