Depressed police officer pleads for help, says he doesn't want to leave his pregnant wife
A police officer attached to the Turbi police station in Marsabit County has confessed to being depressed, resulting in many failed suicide attempts.
Despite displaying obvious indications of depression, the cop, who identified himself as Kiprop Rop, resented the fact that no one was concerned about his precarious situation.
"I have been suffering from depression and I have been trying to kill myself. Nobody wants to hear me, nobody wants to help me. I am really depressed," Kiprop said
Rop lamented the lack of brotherly love among his coworkers as he recounted his tragedy, a fact that has prompted him to seek assistance from any well-wisher.
"I am requesting everyone who is ready to help me to cope up with depression to come to my rescue." he added.
With a sorrowful expression on his face, the cop described how he had attempted to take his own life several times, all of which had failed.
"Suicidal thoughts have been coming severally. Even today, I have been trying to kill myself. Please help me. I do not want to die," the officer added.
Kiprop expressed his love for his family and described how difficult life would be for his pregnant wife if he died right now.
He stated his readiness for any assistance that would aid him in taming the situation.
"My wife is pregnant. I do not want to leave them behind. I am suffering a lot. I have not slept for the last five days. Please help me, I am ready to be helped," he said.
The National Service Commission (NPSC) established a program in September 2021 to monitor and identify officers who require immediate medical assistance.
The commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, plans to fully implement the program aimed at addressing mental health issues.
