Mixed Reaction from Kenyans following Increased Fuel Price
The prices of fuel in Kenya have been increased by about Ksh 8 per litre.
The new price rates will remain enforced for the next 30 days according to a statement released by The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on September 14th.
While announcing the new fuel prices, EPRA said that petrol will retail at Ksh 134.72 per litre and kerosene at Ksh 110.2. Diesel, on the other hand will retail at Ksh 115 per litre. The prices will last till October 14th.
For months, the government has maintained the prices at Ksh 127.4 for petrol, kSH 107.66 Ksh 97.85 for kerosine in Nairobi County, a move that aimed at cushioning citizens by maintaining the retail prices below Ksh 5, 486 mark.
Despite the justification for the increaed prices, the common mwananchi has since lamented over the move, citing tough economic times.
Moreover, a section of Public Service Vehicle operators hinted at doubling fare charges.
"At this rate. We have no option but to raise fare charges. Doubling it is the only survival mechanism for us."
Considering the far-reaching economic effects the country has suffered in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, hiking fuel prices can only make life more unbearable.

So sad 😢,at a time like this.
