Laikipia University student stabbed to death by an angry 'boyfriend'

  Gertrude Kipkoech, a first-year student at Laikipia University , was stabbed to death on Wednesday night by her roommate's boyfriend.  Kipkoech, who had just recently begun her university life, was brutally killed in the ladies' hostels by a stranger identified as Ezra. R. Kelly found guilty of of sex trafficking, faces possibility of life imprisonment

Phot/Courtesy R. Kelly, a well-known R&B musician and songwriter, was found guilty of all nine sex trafficking charges brought against him and could spend the rest of his life in prison. R. Kelly was found guilty after eluding the hooks of justice for years, despite numerous allegations about his sexual misconduct with multiple women and young children. On Monday, a twelve-judge panel made up of seven men and five women convicted the 54-year-old R&B artist guilty of all nine accusations brought against him. Kelly, according to prosecutors, was involved in crime syndicate activities and worked with other criminals to help him gain girls and later hold them. Kelly was indicted alongside two other people in Chicago, and their cases are still ongoing. Kelly might spend the rest of his life in prison as a result of his criminal activities, which include breaching the Mann Act. Dr Gakara, who 'killed' his two children, is dead

Photo/Courtesy James Gakara, a Nakuru-based doctor suspected of murdering his two minors aged 3 and 5, has died. James, suspected of poisoning his sons to death, died earlier today while seeking treatment at the Nakuru Level 5 hospital. Gakara, who was found unconscious at his Milimani home, has been in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital since the incident. He allegedly injected a poisonous substance into his two children since police discovered used syringes and knives at the crime spot. The doctor was found unconscious on his head before being whisked to the hospital for immediate attention pending murder charges in court. Neighbours who grew suspicious after the doctor locked up himself together with his children alerted detectives who rushed to the scene of the crime only to find the boy’s lifeless body on the floor with foam coming out of their mouth. Matatu Operators Issue a Statement on the Latest Fuel Prices

Photo/Courtesy Matatu operators have decried the latest  fuel prices  that is expected to remain in effect for the next one month. While giving an official statement on Friday 17, the matatu operators lamented the government's move to increase fuel prices by about Ksh 8 per litre. The matatu representatives noted with concern how the move will have far-reaching effects in that sector, citing that they have so far received no government stimulus package in the face of COVID-19. “As we are all aware, the government did not extend any economic stimulus to the industry. Neither did it reduce any other taxes and levies,” the statement read. They also highlighted the plight of the matatu sector as one laden with unscrupulous taxation from some government employers as corrupt deals that many operators practice to avoid facing the full wrath of the law for any form of violation. “The industry is also laden with unofficial taxes from law enforcers,” they added. Kibera Muchai, Founder of Mololine is dead

Photo/Courtesy The founder of Molo Line Service Limited, Kibera Muchai, is dead. Kibera, a self-made entrepreneur, died while receiving treatment at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital. In an official statement released by his family on Wednesday, September 15, Kibera passed on after a brief illness. Taking to her Facebook account, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika expressed her sadness at the loss of such a patriotic and hardworking Kenyan. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our patriarch Kibera Muchai who passed away at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital after a brief illness,” Kihika said. Before the promulgation of The Constitution of Kenya 2010, Kibera served as a Councilor in Molo. His key accomplishments as a servant leader include advocating for improved roads and sewer system in Molo. He also founded Molo line Sacco, which has transformed the  matatu  sector.

Mixed Reaction from Kenyans following Increased Fuel Price

  Photo/Courtesy The prices of fuel in Kenya have been increased by about Ksh 8 per litre.  The new price rates will remain enforced for the next 30 days according to a statement released by The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on September 14th. While announcing the new fuel prices , EPRA said that petrol will retail at Ksh 134.72 per litre and kerosene at Ksh 110.2. Diesel, on the other hand will retail at Ksh 115 per litre. The prices will last till October 14th. For months, the government has maintained the prices at Ksh 127.4 for petrol, kSH 107.66 Ksh 97.85 for kerosine in Nairobi County, a move that aimed at cushioning citizens by maintaining the retail prices below Ksh 5, 486 mark. Despite the justification for the increaed prices, the common  mwananchi  has since lamented over the move, citing tough economic times. Yonggi Cho, Pastor of World's Largest Church Dies at 85

  Photo/Courtesy David Yonggi Cho, the pastor of the world's largest megachurch, is dead. The Yoido Full Gospel Church co-founder died on Tuesday morning at the age of 85 in a Seol-based hospital. While announcing his demise, the church said that Pastor David succumbed to cerebral hemorrhage. "Cho, an emeritus pastor at Seol's Yoido Full Gospel Church, died at a Seol hospital where he had been treated since he collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage in July 2020," the church statement read. Before the inauguration of Nigeria-based Glory Dome, Cho's church was the largest Pentecostal Christian congregation in South Korea and the world. He served until 2011 before officially resigning from active church leadership. Recalling his passion and dedication to the gospel of Jesus, the church remarked that the fallen hero was a pillar in the growth of the South Korean church after the Korean war. Kabianga University closed down following Student dissatisfaction over fee increase

In a memo released by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Elijah Omwenga, all the students were instructed to vacate the school premises by 3:30 PM EAT. The comrades who had just reported back to school were perplexed to learn of the 40% fee increase, something that didn't sit well with them. As they spoke to the media, the students expressed their displeasure, arguing that it is improper to consider such decisions. "We are going to unravel the unscrupulous expenditure that is going on in Kabianga," one of them remarked.
